Japanese Meiji period bronze planter on plant stand with decorative champlevé enamel work. The piece has ornamental champlevé bands depicting flora and fauna and the stand has central champlevé medallions with stylized birds in flight. Handmade in Japan during the 1880s, the piece is in remarkable antique condition with age-appropriate wear and a desirable dark patina. Inside base of the planter has been replaced with a metal cymbal.
